THE VICTORIA FALLS HOTEL (Map location 1)

What a superb hotel!
Steeped in Old English tradition. If cash is not limited this is a veritable must. Tradition oozes from every crevice.

You will not see game from the hotel but you do have a permanent view of the spray from the falls rising like an eternal cloud. You also have a marvellous view down the gorge to the famous Bridge.

Service is impeccable and the food is excellent. This embraces a self service buffet for breakfast and dinner or alternatively a ‘smart casual’ dress for a la carte dinner in the luxurious Livingstone Restaurant with music and dancing most nights.

Service is first rate and includes 24 hour room service. Bathrooms are a little Victorian in some ways but this just adds to the tradition of the hotel. In any event, the plumbing works and there always seems to be constant hot water.

You can easily walk into town in 10 to 15 minutes. (As a change, cut off a corner by walking through the train station and along the side of the track!)

THE VICTORIA FALLS SAFARI LODGE (Map location 2)

The Victoria Falls Safari Lodge overlooks the Zambezi National Park. It is a relatively modern (1994) extremely popular hotel. And rightly so.

There is excellent viewing from both spacious viewing verandas and from the balcony of many of the bedrooms. The waterhole attracts a good deal of game to the extent that you are unlucky in the extreme if you fail to see a mixture of animals.

The accommodation is excellent matched only by the quality of the service. The restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, also overlooks the waterhole.

Access to and from town (about 2 km) is quite the best in the area. It is provided by a complimentary hourly bus service.

Accommodation is excellent. Each chalet has a well equipped lounge, comfortable bedroom and an enormous bathroom.

The room rates include one complimentary trip into town per stay at the hotel.
